About us

About Our NY City

A guide to New York City for visitors, new arrivals and people who have lived here for years and still haven't seen half of it.

What we cover

Our NY City is a guide to New York for people who want to get more out of the city, whether they’re here for a long weekend or planning to stay for good. We write about things to do, where to eat and drink, neighborhoods across all five boroughs, where to stay, what’s on and what it’s actually like to live here.

Manhattan gets plenty of attention everywhere else, so we make a point of covering Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island properly. Some of the best food and the quietest parks in the city are a subway ride from the places most visitors stick to.

How we write

We try to write the way a friend who lives here would talk to you: direct, specific and honest about the downsides. If a place is overrated, crowded or expensive for what you get, we’ll say so. If something is only worth it at a certain time of day, we’ll tell you when.

We check opening details, prices and dates before we publish, but New York changes quickly. Restaurants close, hours shift and events move. Always check a venue’s own website before you make a special trip.

Corrections

If you spot something that’s wrong or out of date, please tell us. We fix errors as quickly as we can, and we’d rather hear about a mistake than leave it up.

Advertising and independence

Our recommendations are our own. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, we will label them clearly on the page where they appear.
