When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the subject you choose and your message. The message is stored in our website’s database and sent to our email inbox so we can read it and reply.
When you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address and store it in our website’s database. We use it only to send you the newsletter. Every newsletter will include a link to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by email.
If you email us directly, we’ll have whatever information you include in your email, along with your email address.
Like almost every website, our hosting server keeps standard technical logs. These include your IP address, your browser type, the pages you requested and the time of each request. We use these logs to keep the site running, investigate errors and protect it from abuse.
Our security software also records the IP address of anyone who tries and fails to log in to the site’s admin area, so it can block repeated attempts.
We don’t currently use cookies for advertising, analytics or tracking. The website software sets a small number of functional cookies only if you log in to the site’s admin area, which readers don’t need to do.
The fonts and images on this site are served from our own server, and the page doesn’t load content from third-party services when you visit. The share buttons on our articles are plain links. Nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one.
If we add analytics, advertising or embedded content in the future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
Where European or UK data protection law applies, we rely on your consent (for the newsletter and the contact form) and our legitimate interest in running and protecting the website (for server and security logs).
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host and email delivery provider, and only as far as they need it to provide that service. We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.

This website is intended for a general adult audience. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us their information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Our articles link to restaurants, museums, venues and other websites. We aren’t responsible for how those sites handle your information, so check their privacy policies when you visit them.
We’ll update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site.
